im an e36 guy i love e30 too i think its "a man's car" (i dont like e46 its only for the ladys) and i tell you that! i tired listen about m3's allright is good is fast but (there are all the same) its not diferent with potentials (like S42/44) what why i am a m42/44 lover and i need a place to share my knowlege with people like me and stop hear about 6cyl like other clubs/forums (like bfc etc..) i dont care if this club is officialy e30 and e36 club we have fun with our little but powerfull engines .

I think e30 and e36 its like brothers different person but same blood (M4x + blood

)

I have to admit I came here not realizing it was pretty much an E30 club....but it's a good site and another place for me to learn from the veteran m42 heads...I voted yes although I can understand the reasons for members wanting the club to remain E30 M42....I'd also vote yes for a sister site. On another note....what's up with the TI getting it's own area in the E36 bit of BF.C?! Ahh well I won't hate.

+1 vote for adding an E36 section (or a sister site). Let's face it, we M42 owners need to stick together (we'll even throw a bone to the M44 owners, even though they use a cast crank) against the tyranny of the M20, M30, M50/2, S50/2 and S14 owners out there.

Do I get points for having owned two E30s in the past (before kids required a larger 4-door vehicle)?

p.s. Don't forget that without E36 M42/44 cars out there (including the Z3), there wouldn't be a Downing Atlanta Supercharger option for the E30 318i/is as the model run is too small to have made it economically feasible...

I voted no only because of all the differences between the two models and for my experience on BF. Don't get me wrong, BF is great, but the combination of many people trying to help people with many different cars seems to lead to a lot of confusion and people saying things that aren't true and sometimes not even logical. Also, there seem to be far more closed-minded flamers over there....

Here, we all have a common car and a great knowledge base without all of the kicking and screaming

I love it over there when someone with a M42 ask about crappy running and the first response is always check you cap and rotor .

I don't think that too many of us "hate" the e36, I think that there is already a lot of e36 info out there. I also think it is great that there are e36 people here, but it can be confusing with all of the differences between the two cars. I think a sister site is a great idea, though.

I would say that it should be half on half for e30 and e36 owners... It is M42CLUB - not only E30M42CLUB...

It's true, this is M42 Club but I still voted no. They have loads of their own support and I like asking questions knowing they will be answered in the context of an E30.

To nip off-topic for a bit, the E30 is way more special than any E36 - across the whole range. Cabrio, M3 and Touring they're all better model for model.

I have owned two E30 318is's and I just bought an E36 318is.

Is there solution where we could have a separate sub-forum for E36-specific questions only?

I still have nothing to E36 owners... For me it doesn't depend on which model You have, it's all about Your interest in M42!!! I have E30, I would like to have knock detection in my engine, but I don't have it :-) M42 mounted in E36 is the better one... But I still like E30 far more.

I have a question to all people who voted "no" - If I will change my car to E36 - should I walk away because of it?

The club has already been opened to e36 members, has been for a while.

We also have some 325 members.
We have lots of info that applies to both cars, and there is not only no reason to exclude them, but it only makes for people developing an elitist attitude.

I vote yes.......... let us not forgot that one day we need a transplant from a late model e36, the shared knowledge may come in handy. know i had to do this after i did the same thing to my m42 that sheepdog did.

I might be getting an M42 E36, because it will be easier to find one.

The only problem is: searching E36 with this forum software yields no results although there are many posts that mention it. I try Google searching site:m42club.com for " E36" but every page is returned as it doesn't recognize the space and E36 is in all pages due to the header.

This site is a great community and resource for all M42 folk.

awww hell. Im own a 92 e36, and I always thought it was about 50/50.

Now I see that Im not wanted, and have a less respected vehicle. You probably think I should sell it and go backwards to buy a older less reliable, slower e30, you bunch of curmudgeons.

Thats It, Im out outta here!

Just kidding. I vote yes, but dont care either way. There may be differences, but I think we all get the gist of it. A lot of general advice and knowledge does transfer from the e30 to the e36...Anyhoo, either way it goes, Im her eto stay due to the knowledge base and lack of ricer boys.
