How To: Remove Subframe Mount From Chassis
« on: May 31, 2013, 02:38:16 PM »
I got an email from a guy asking about how to remove the rear subframe today. As I started typing out a description of how to break the aluminum centers of the mounts loose from the chassis, I realized that a drawing would be a lot easier to understand. Hopefully this saves someone from pounding she shit out of the metal lip inside the car before they realize that it isn't part of the mount lol...I learned that one the hard way about 8 years ago.

So, here you go!

This should be stickied. The first explanation I have seen that makes sense.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I know that the rear subframe bushing job is a real bear as I have done it myself a few times. Definitely consider dropping the entire rear crossmember for these (unless you have a set of BMW bushing pullers). You might as well deal with the TA bushings too, and the diff.
