...argh. Sorry to hear Gunni. Any idea on what caused the failure?

Engine developed a rod failure and will not be repaired.

Wow, that sucks. Can you elaborate more on rod failure? That would be the last thing I would think of happening.

Rod failed because I was doing standing burnouts for a while. and then when I released the brakes and took a little drift turn the oil moved to much in the oil pan and it lost pressure resulting in drying out the bearing.

Note : I really did a long standing burnout and alot of drifting before it failed,
it was definitly nothing wrong with the design of the M42 in general,

I really really wanted this turbo conversion to happen, but the cost is just to high to get it all going again,

I´m starting another 1800cc Dohc Turbo engine swap into my E30,
It´s a non bmw motor and I´ll post some pics when I´m done,
the motor is really similar to the M42 .

Is there anyone else that has that swap near you already? Please take some pics if you can. Sounds like a project.

I have only found somebody in the Aus region that done it,
Nobody around here has even tought of it,
I´ll take pics no problem,,
might even post them on the M42 forum as the engine is almost an M42
