BETTER way to BLEED

 Back in the late 90's I raced motocross, I remember the showa forks I used ,
had a shrader (tire valve) valve screwed into the top of the fork tube.
after practice /race if the forks were harsh you push the valve like u do your tires
and the air goes out.

So my question is could you put a shrader/presta type valve in the top of the radiator for bleeding?

  There must be a BETTER way to bleed the system...

Showa forks still have those - my '95 VFR and my '84 VF1100s both have air-adjustable forks.  The V65 Sabre even has a clever little crossover pipe to equalize the pressure.

IMHO the M20/M30 bleeder valve was a far better idea than the M42 setup.  Maybe epoxy a valve or bleeder screw into the outer thermostat housing.  The M20 thermo housing is self-bleeding though.  Maybe tee a bleeder valve into one of the hoses?

That expansion tank isn't well made...I definitely wouldn't be tempted to drill a hole in it.

June 27th 2004 I hit a wall head on! at about 70mph over
by Topanga canyon (ca). I was in a coma for 3 months
and in 3 hospitals for a total of 14months. broke r ankle,
r arm tore off and my brain was bleeding.
 It was very messy. but I still believe its
Honda or dont moto and BMW or walk!

I've never raced bikes - so my hat's off to you.  That sounds like a horrendous accident, glad you're OK!

I've had lots of other cars - but only Honda motorcycles.  One of these days I hope to get myself a BMW oilhead though.  They seem very well-made, if a bit overpriced.  That might be years down the road...once the OEM R/R and wire harness is upgraded the 2nd gen VFR can really rack up some miles.  Gear-drive cams FTW!  Love the sound too, very addictive.

The site isn't my doing - I caught on to the M42 pretty late - but it's nice to help out.  The four-banger BMWs are such a worthy cause.  Even though BMW abandoned the M4x, they have just recently came back with the four-cyl N20 series.  Think of all the great cars that had a BMW 4-banger...M10 and S14,  the M12/13 turbocharged monsters, even the elusive S42!

The M42 bleeder is fine. Put a jack under the car and lift the front drivers corner. Take out the bleed screw and run the engine.

Thats all you need to do....

yes your right and jacking it up is easy , very easy for you and I... But you and I both know there are people who
 have no clue but they think they it all.

When i was like 22yrs old I had a girl bring her car to me saying the brakes dont work.
I went out to her car with my jack and a tire iron.
she popped the hood release got out and said whats that stuff for my brakes are in here.
(in under the hood)
so sometimes the obvious isnt..

plus the oem one seems to break kinda easy
