TRE fuel pump and new issue...
« on: March 08, 2013, 07:01:46 PM »
First off im running gsx-r 750 itbs with s52 injectors tuning with tunerpro

Before i replaced the fuel pump i was leaning out wot 5500rpm from 12.5 to 13 to 14+ closer to 7krpm.

Installed the TRE pump and everything was super rich.

I was able to tune to idle 14.7

Tune low load 14.7 ish

High load about 12-13afr

WOT no matter how low i make the values im still showing 10afr

Any suggestions?

first off let me admit to having not a clue.   but to make idle conversation,  I have noticed that some guys who are racing with itbs have extra injectors located in the airbox.  maybe,  this is activated at WOT  to alleviate the problem you are having.   just  one possibility

I put the stock injectors back in.. But my afr sensor is fouled up.  Getting a new one tomorrow.

i installed the new wideband sensor.  took it for a boot and to my suprise the "stock" bin file was showing 12s afr at wot.  i copied some of the timing maps from my previous tunes.  i need to smooth out some of the low and high load maps.

all in all it looked like all i needed was a new fuel pump.  TRE 240 same as the walbro 255L/hr pump.

just a quick thanks to Rocco from RMP MOTORS for suggesting to put the stock injectors in to solve the high fuel issue.

If you are tuning with Tunerpro you should not be compensating for fueling by switching to smaller injectors....this defeats the whole point of tuning your setup!

Your fuel pressure regulator should be set at the factory setting with the vacuum hose off (3bar).

If idle is too rich or lean, adjust the fuel setting for that cell.

The problem was the stock fuel pump.. It was on its way out and stalled out on me a few times... When i did the first dyno tune we could not get the afr richer than 15 at wot. We maxed out the cells at 255.  Thats why we swapped in the s52 injectors not realizing that the pump was the issue.

When i installed the new pump i was getting the right fuel pressure but the s52 injectors have a higher flow rate than the m42 injectors.  Needless to say i had to reduce my values to lean out my afr.

But had trouble with the bigger injectors at wot.  I dont know how to change the info of the injectors on tunerpro or to change the injector pulse.

So i put the stock ones back in :)

And all is good
