Seems like a lot of little problems are creeping in, probably due to the age of this software. VB is nearing version 5, and this is still 3 and they are likely dropping support soon and their prices have only gone up. The hackers have found holes, and patch on top of patch has been applied. I think it's time to move on.
Once I get the new backup system flushed out, I am going to look to moving this place over to SMF.
This won't entirely be an easy transition as SMF does things quite a bit differently, I will try and get some tutorials ready before the switch so you guys can find everything. Banning spammers by IP and email is a piece of cake. I do need to find a plug in to allow timed bans though.
Spam management is MUCH better, you guys think you see a lot of spam, and the truth is, this system is keeping out A TON of it. The new forum will be better at this. It's so good, I will only have to block a few email services as opposed to almost every free one available.
This does mean a new look though, and that will send some users into a rage, so be ready.
