I am interested as a beginner (never been on a track or anything like it) with my 1991 318is.  Nothing special.  Are there any days you can just go and drive around the track at a slow pace to get the feel of everything?  No mods on my car or anything at the moment.  Looks cool though! Thank you for posting

You can sign up for HPDE 1, this is where every beginner gets his start. I do believe they have instructors available for those who request it. I think you can even rent a helmet from them as well.

When I went with this group to a Willow Springs event it worked out excellent. They did a lead follow group where 1 car would take the lead and at the end of the lap would fall to the back and so on and so on so everyone got to lead at least one lap and you got to get into different positions and everyone kept it at a pretty tame pace.

Then in the following sessions you go out on your own. All passing is done by point bys. So folks can't just blast past you and scare you. If you wish to drive slow, just stay to the side and give everyone the point by. Just don't get in everyones way or making passing you difficult.

The price is a great deal, you get 4 30 minute sessions in a day. It adds up to about a $1 per minute of track time.

I do free HPDE inspections for NASA and would have no problem inspecting your car and signing off on your tech sheet. That way you ready to go when you get to the track.

Go For It!
