The COP coversion has returned!!!
« Reply #15 on: January 04, 2007, 04:14:12 AM »
sorry for the delay all.  i have been extremely busy with the past holidays, my business, school, and i am starting a new job tomorrow (or today since its 2am).  D. Clay was unable to assist me in this project, so i have been in touch with robe30.  the first batch are in the making, but i believe only 7 will be available.  the price will most likely remain at $40, however, i may have to charge shipping since rob is shipping them to me and i then have to ship the kits out to you.  would you all be ok with this? this is an extra step bmwman did not have to take.  i will give you more info on the exact price when i am able to get quotes on the weight of the kit.  as for the list, it is only fair that rob and i come first, and i will update the list as you post. so basically first to post, first to get a kit.  thanks again and sorry for the delay.

p.s. dude8383, you can update the list as long as you go according to the order of posts.  thanks.

I expect to have 7 after I've got mine.  Let's figure out the most effecient way to get these in people's hands.  Isn't the hardware for these available at any hardware store?

Maybe not a hardware store. It would be hit or miss. I would check with a nut, bolt, and fastener specialty supplier. I've gotten to know the local one over the years.

My partner in our race car already sourced the hardware.  We need to verify a few things for fit (to make the install easier) but the plates themselves are in.  We're also looking into getting the Ignition Solutions coil packs so let me know if you would be interested in a set of those as well.

Based on the quantities I'm buying these in, the plates came in a bit higher than Alex had forecast.  The price for the initial batch will be $45 shipped (including the hardware).

Apparently not at all.  Their phones appear to be disconnected.

Are those coils $125 each? A set of 8 for an M5 is $1000. That's pretty pricey for something considered questionable by some sources.

Here is the latest update.  I have the plates in hand but am headed out of town for a few days on business.  My M42 head is at the machine shop and I'll pick it up on Friday.  I will finalize the parts over the weekend and plan to be able to ship these by the end of next week.
I've confirmed fit on my valve cover but want to verify the length of the two main support studs.  I'm looking at a bushing between the plate and the valve cover to eliminate the guess work.

I'm also out of town the first few days of next week, hence the delay.  If I can get the kits finalized and have payment I might be able to get them shipped before I leave on Monday morning.

PM me for my verified Paypal address.

Dude, I'm down like 4 flat tires. lol:cool:   Matter of fact, I spotted coils on what I think was a M50 or S50 Head. Might be able to score those for short money.

The hardware kit is complete and I'm ready to ship kits.  Here are pics of the finished kit.  It uses socket head (allen) bolts as well as BMW washers/grommets.  PM me for my Paypal address and I'll get these shipped as the payments are received.

Just to clarify...  I didn't start this GB thread and didn't set the original price.  I was going to price these at $50 but decided to get as close to Alex's price as I could (including shipping).  The price is $45 shipped in the US.  The hardware kit includes the bracket, socket head bolts (allen head) the washers, nylon lock nuts, nylon spacers, two custom cut threaded rods, and the BMW rubber grommets and washers.
