What does your M42 sound like?

I've never actually been in another 318 with an M42 so I'm not sure what they should sound like at idle.

Mine isn't quiet by any means.  It almost sounds like a little deisel.  My tensioner is good too.

What does your sound like?  Audio/video clips would be awesome.

Hmmm, good question good topic. Perhaps we could just gather audio clips of exhaust sounds as well. More likely to motivate some (like me) to help this cause.

I'll try to get mine posted soon... as long as my digital camera will take decent audio.

I've been meaning to get some audio clips, just haven't had the time. Will do so when I get the chance.

Mine had the dreaded "valve chain noise" (hiss) at 3000- 3700 rpm that I read about on bimmerdiy.  Replaced t-chain tensoiner and went to a lighter grade oil and it went away.  My car's muffler was pretty much ornamental and I've replaced it with a generic dual outlet.  It is pretty quiet, but sounds like a Jetta or Golf...

that doesn't really do it justice as its really low quality. but remove the chopy bits in your imagination and its probably slightly louder then stock, and deeper then stock.

got her put on today for 20$ canadian, and bought her for 130$ can.
magnaflow stainless steel 19 inch muffler. straight through design. if anyone wants the P/N shoot me a pm. its a really easy muffler to mount as well, it fits very very nice, and doesn't rub at all. lots of clearance.

edit: link fixed, choose the one that says magnaflow... obviously...
