last week i finally got my car back from the dyno after many different problems with computer software and ignition problems.

the car made 213.2kw at the rear wheels at 20psi and felt awsome

ill post the dyno sheet up in a few days when i scan it

my next problem is i just blew my gearbox last night on my second drive in the car..... second gear went as i did a hard gear change comming around a corner.

now i need to find a replacement, or a way on strengthening the gearbox

what are my options?
what other gearboxes fit?
what modifications are needed to fit other gearboxes?

The gearboxes from the M50, M52 and S5x engines should fit just fine.

BUT you most likely would have to invent some driveshaft solution, and i'm not sure what you need to do for the gearshifting mechanism. But i know it's doable.

do you know any one or does any one know of someone i could talk to about doing this conversion?

does anyone know some one running decent power with a 318is? and have upgraded the box?

i just dont want to be putting in another gearbox in that will give up as quick as this one did.

is there anyway of strengthening gearbox's?

Isn't 285whp kinda low for 20psi?

no, for a 1.8 Liters it sounds about right...and is plenty of power for an E30 if you ask me.

sounds low to me i have 12psi to mine and I'm running ~250whp. And i have a buddie thats running 30psi and he has 564whp its also a nissan SR20DET but still a 1.8.

Yea sounds a little low to me too,
but coming from only 136hp 1bar should only get you cirka 260hp, so 20psi should get you cirka 285whp

i dont know what power i should be expecting, im happy with the result at the moment. we had the car at 230kw at one stage but brought it back to keep the tune safe.

The car happened to be getting tuned on a very hot day and at times the temperature around the dyno was getting up around 45 degrees +

What type of dyno was it on? If it was a dyno dynamics they typically read quite a bit lower than the typical dynojets and such we normally have in the states.

285 at the wheels is good, especially if it's reliable for more than a few months.There's a lot more to HP than boost alone. The Getrag 240 is a pretty solid box. Most for E30's have a ton of miles on them and are sloppy to start with. Maybe you put the straw on the camel with that turbo.
In the 80's and early 90's, formula cars ran 900+ through a Hewland designed for 400-500 HP max. They held up very well for sometimes 4 hours. Motors were good for 2 hours.

I cannot help with the trans, but I can with the driveshaft.

Do not worry about the driveshaft, that is an easy fix. Find a good driveline service, they can shorten or lengthen the driveshaft in a matter of minutes. I did this on a pick up I owned. It was about $125 for shortening. In the end, I had them shorten the shaft, change a yoke, and replace all the u-joints for $210. I still had to install it, but it was simple as could be.
