Can I has twincharged m42 please???

This car and driver are incredible http://youtu.be/88SMR1UcacA ... Is anyone else as insane as I am and want to make our little m42 into a twincharged beast??? mwahahaha

I don't think it is actually possible in an e30 considering the Lancia Delta S4 was a mid engine car. But how awesome would that be if it was?? estimated 2.2 second 0-60 on gravel?

I am in love with the Group B cars and dream of making a car (or my car) into something similar. What about you guys?

Edit: Upon further thought... I don't think this is possible with a front engine car. Have to find a mid engine... BMW doesn't make a mid engine, right?

I think it could totally be doable to twin-charge an m42.  They already make a supercharger kit for the m42, and turbos are pretty simple and I bet there is a kit out there as well.  The supercharger would be on the intake side of the engine and the turbo would be on the exhaust side and I don't see plumbing being that hard, and I have seen v12's stuffed in an e30 so I know it will fit one way or another.....but then, that is a stupid amount of money to throw at an m42 vs swapping in an s52 or ls1 IMO.

It is definitely a ridiculous idea on that small of an engine (I may be  crazy enough to try it :p). I think the real tricky part would be finding a  clutch that could handle that much power (and make the switch between  supercharger to turbo).  As well as synching the supercharger and  turbo together...

You could get an M20 clutch in there with no problem.  But even without the bigger setup, companies like Spec offer clutches with just about any clamping force you'd like to have:

This would be a unique project for sure and there is plenty of space available deprnding on how you do it.

Set it up so the turbo blows onto the charger, no switching required. Just the headache of figuring out charger and turbo sizing to suit and BOV wastegates etc. Have looked into this on another car and its a mind bender but dosnt have to be complicated. Huge power with wide power spread, who could resist.
