Whether it's for one of my bikes, cars, Jeep or something totally off the wall chances are I've found it on CL. The latest: Brand new OEM floor mats, $40 and the seller offered to split the shipping costs.

I about fell out of my chair when the guy said that, but I emailed him back and told him for the price he was asking I'd pay for shipping. He had some other maintenance stuff but didn't know what motor it was for, so he threw in four hood roundels and asked for $65 total/shipped. He figured $12 for shipping and it came out to $19. I was hoping the roundels were the older metal versions, but no such luck. At least there's no "Made in China" stamp on them.:rolleyes:

I bought my '91 318i sedan on CL. High miles (266K), clean body, not running, bad diff. I had enough change left over from $1000 to fill the tank after I got it running. Not a bad deal, all-in-all.

Among other CL things, I've found:
A non-running '87 325is with a good title...and five 14" basketweaves, black leather sport interior, premium sound, etc....$285 including the title transfer. I'm still sitting in that black leather sport seat!

A "rusty but trusty" running '84 325e auto with five good bottlecaps, nearly new tires and a tan leather sport interior including the rare rear headrest option. It was a tremendous bargain for $200 (a lot of people called but I was the only one that showed up). It was too far gone to save, so I stripped it & sold it for $250 to a scrapper for "farm use." I'm almost done with the last of those tires on my 318i.

Most of the deals I made have only been break-even, but with those three I'm way ahead!

Did you want to part with one of your Roundels?

Best CL deal I have gotten was last summer when I was looking for winter wheels/tires for my Honda Fit as it was dreadful in snow. There was an ad for 4 winter tires and it was pretty close to home. He was asking $100 but would take $70 if I showed up that day.
I get there and its 4 brand spanking new 4x100 steelies with brand new winter tires. I was floored. He was moving to Az and didn't want to pack them in moving truck that was sitting in front of his house so they needed to be gone quick.

I think that's the secret to CL...jump on the deal when you see it. One of the main complaints I hear from people selling is receiving phone call, after phone call, after phone call, and then no one shows up.

I've had fairly good success selling and haven't had a lot of flakers.

I agree - show up on time, with cash...and negotiate fairly. I'm surprised at the number of truly honest people I've met over the years.

I was surfing Craigslist Tools section and saw a listing for SIR Bearing Tool:

The lister didn't know what particular cars it was for, but I took a chance and drove 65 miles one way to meet him and purchase it. Besides the basic parts that come with every kit, I have: B90-3H, 4, 5, 10, and 12. I can't seem to find an itemized kit listing with part numbers for BMW, but I think I need: B90-11, 13, 14, and 3VA.

If anyone has this kit, can you contact me for more information?

I paid $100 which makes it a middling-good deal if I have to buy as many parts as I think I do.
