Checked fitment of the skidplate and its going to require a different plate than what the M20 powered cars use. We're pretty busy with work at the moment so taking the time to make an M42/318is skidplate would probably require a few pre-orders...like 4 or so to get the ball rolling. Ill make a post on r3v and e30tech tommorow as well to see if theres enough serious interest.

Ballpark quote?  I'm in - I'm too low to comfortably drive around DC. I like to think that I know where all the dips are around here (besides the ones behind the steering wheels!), but I *do* venture out of my area once in a while...

Ive got one sold going on a road race car so far.

I think some may be a little gun shy due to the fact that not many people have turbocharged m42s before. They're no different than any other motor. Its all just boost, fuel and ignition timing :D

Based on what I have learned, the M42 from an E30 is an ideal candidate to boost.  It has forged internals, oversize valves (relative to later M42/M44 motors) and stiffer valve springs.  I'm not crazy about the throttle body, and there are few options for an oil cooler but I think it will make a good candidate to run with a turbo.

Based on the pics it looks like the turbo mounts with the shaft parallel to the wheels/drive shaft (left to right) as opposed to front to back?  I guess I was expecting the compressor intake to face foward, as opposed to facing the passenger side.

The turbo in that picture your looking at isnt bolted on. The manifold is just resting on it for the photo. Turbo is placed just as you would expect facing forward as seen here.
