If it was just for the emblem, you could've just bought an Mtech1 wheel for around $50 and not have to worry about a separate hub. Suprisingly hubs cost more than steering wheels these days...

i know what you mean, i currently swapped out my 4 spoke airbag for a gt style 3 spoke wheel. theres a couple pics of it on e30tech.  anyways, it has no leather wrap on it so its a bit uncomfortable.  i couldve easily got an mtech1 for CHEAP at local junkyards (ive actually taken off about 3 but have changed my mind every time) i dont like how they are so HUGE.. so ive decided to go with this smaller one.  should go well with my z4 3.0 ssk =D next will be matching pedals and shift knob

I prefer a smaller wheel myself but not at the sacrifice of not being able to see all the gauges clearly.  I guess that's one more benefit of having an adjustable steering column.

Looks nice. But in my opinion the best steering wheel for the E30 is the M-Tech II. You see all the gauge, very confortable and small enough for track use plus it's so damn hot ;). Tell us how it fits.

i agree. but until i can scrounge up enough money for one of those (even if i did i would prolly buy something more useful for my car) this will have to do.  juss ordered a MOMO hub from a nearby speed shop and im waitin for the steering wheel to be shipped.

on a side note..
Anyone looking for BRAND NEW AC Schnitzer type II wheels or a BRAND NEW Alpina steering wheel? The shop i went to had them for sale as WELL AS various RARE and hard to find Recaro seats..

Just remember to use Loctite on the screws or you'll find yourself retightening them every once in awhile. You might want to wait until you drive around and find the perfect center position first though.

UPDATE: finally got the wheel in with a new momo hub. the quality of the wheel isnt exactly like a momo but for $40 it feels pretty nice.  with the momo hub at $70 that puts my total to $110.  got it mounted too.  now all thats left is to see how long itll last..

pics:

at certain angles the top of the wheel blocks out the top of the gauges, but at the angle i slouch at, i can see the cluster perfectly...

Between 1-2 years. Never seen one of these in an accident scenario. It would be interesting to see the crumple characteristics of these wheels. Be prepared for the pleather to shrink over time, fade or crack in extreme sun/heat, possible rust to form on the metal parts, especially around the bolt hole areas. But for $40, it would probably be ok if you got 2 yrs out of it.

BTW, my Momo in one of my other car is going on 26 yrs. The other one is going on 11 yrs.

lol i live in san francisco, not much extreme weather out here... heres a pic of the final installation. took out the silver ring and went with black screws.  also realigned the wheel.  now my car really feels like a go kart...
