Hi everyone.

I purchased my 318 with the hella elipsoid with smileys. The HID conversion was already in place. At this time however, I wish to remove the HID kit and replace with plain Jane halogens. I have already discovered that the hella have the opening that most likely accepts a h1 bulb (I tried a h7 and it doesn't fit) . The questions I have are; is h1 going to be sufficient light? Or, is it possible to replace the housing unit on the back of the headlamp that holds the bulb in place to accept the h7 bulb?

Thanks.

Got it figured.

I had a lot of problems getting help to do this itty bitty project. I'm sure it's because people didn't understand why I was going from a seemingly better illumination system, to something that was pretty much only good enough to get by. Well let me explain.

I prefer this little beauty to be as original as it can be, while still maintain its drive ability and reliability. The HID system that the previous owner installed was a little finicky. One light seemed to never work and I was constantly trying to get it going with not much luck.

So a couple of h1's and a little bit of splicing and shrink tubing, all is good.

And the light produced is good enough for the city. And I will never have this baby on the highway on long trips so....

Pics soon.
