hey everyone! Finally got my 318is on the road after 6 years of sitting! put a used engine in earlyer this year it runs pretty well except when i start it for like the first 5 min its put puts and stalls when i hit the gas pedal but once i get the rpms up to 3000 or high it stays runnign then it warms up and its fine but after it cools down sme thing any ideas? MAF sensor? idk ned input help me out

well i switcheed out my MAF sensor i think its fixed thanks for the help... NOT

ok BALLS that didnt fix it WTF this shit is annoying everymorning i start it it puu pop puus and stalls when i hit gas u think its a collant sensor?

Yes, I'd check the coolant temp sensor. It's blue in color, under the intake.

Did you do a stomp test? Quick & easy - lets you know what the car is thinking.

If it's not the CTS I'd check the air temp sensor. Pins 4&5 on the AFM plug.

Intake air temp sensor:
@68degF 2200-2700 ohms
@122degF 760-910 ohms

Coolant temp sensor is very similar:
@58degF 2300-2700 ohms
@180degF 300-360 ohms.

do u need that thing that displays the engine codes to do stomp test? and i tryed swapping our the AFM same issue. its only happening after the car completely cools don liek in the mornign or after work i wanna do the mustang injectors so ill try swaping the temp sensor when i do that but any other input would be appretiated. thx fro the responses

Nope - no need for a code reader - just google it. All the "OBD1" North American market BMWs have it (that's most Motronics from '88-95). Turn the key to position 2, don't start the engine, and stomp the gas pedal five times. If you do it right, the CEL will start blinking. Count the pattern & you'll get your codes.

You could also have a massive vac leak...even small cracks that cause poor running can expand and seal up when the car gets warmed up nicely.
