The unfortunate end of my m42
« on: May 27, 2012, 10:23:42 PM »
Just got back from my last HPDE with my m42. It blew up on the track. After just a few laps this morning it threw a rod or something similarly horrific happened in the bottom end, haven't torn it apart yet to know for sure.
RIP M42. :(

I never thought I would do this, but here I come m50.

Gah, that sucks.  Sorry to hear about it.

Make sure you offer the victim's cyl head to the members here - far more M42's die from cracked head than a thrown rod.  Yours can help others live...and it'll help to fund the new project too!

It started to make a VERY slight knocking sound under hard acceleration. After 1 more lap (by the time I got to the pits) it was essentially toast.

It's already cracked one head, I put a rebuilt head on it about 3 years ago.

Yeah, it ended my weekend a little bit earlier than I had anticipated. It was rather perfect timing to blow so soon after we talked about yours blowing up.
Time for MORE POWER!
Know anyone with a good S50?

Eugh, I jinxed you :(. Did you tow it home?

s50s are a bit harder to come by. You'll find s52s and m52s with less effort.
