I just purchased a 91 318i that was missing the rear view mirror and the control check panel. I picked up used parts from an '86 325es. My '91 has a four wire plug in that location, and the '86 plug has about 20 wires. Can I make this work? Thanks.

Not to say it couldn't be done, but if you want all the lights to work there's a lot of wiring involved. What you bought is probably best for filling the empty hole overhead.

Originally, we only have a light panel on our M42 e30's. It's just a plain black panel with a few status lights.

I deleted mine, but IIRC there's just a seatbelt light and one for the airbag/SRS system. Basically that little connector is just for two light bulbs. It's not a check control at all on the M42 models.
