Mystery part

Help a dufus out (that would be me). We bought a '91 318is back in January, and had to take apart the engine bay to replace all the hoses, and pull out a good chunk of the interior to weld in a patch to a rusty floor. Life conspired to drag this out longer than my memory is good for, and now that I'm putting stuff back in, I have one part I can't identify:
Can someone please tell me where this goes? My car doesn't seem to need it at the moment, but I'm sure the car would like this back, and will let me know at a future inopportune moment
Thanks for any help,
Ian

Thanks, you are correct. Unfortunately, it goes behind the center console, and I had just finished installing the console and all the switches. Oh well, nothing like doing a job twice to really get it right...
