Hey there, I'm trying to figure out where my fuel tank breather valve is supposed to go. With the realoem diagram its impossible to tell where it actually goes. Any help is appreciated!

On my e30 it's just off the charcoal canister, on the vac line that runs to the throttle body.  It looks a lot like this RealOEM-ish diagram here at BMW of South Atlanta's site.

I'd bet there's only an inch or two (2-5cm) of vac line between the two.

When I bought the car it didn't have a charcoal canister, is it a bad idea not to have one, what exactly is the role of this canister.
