Power steering leak & intake problem
« on: February 28, 2012, 04:37:51 PM »
Sunday, I replaced my vacuum reservoir tank & flushed my power steering system. I also removed the reservoir from the bracket. I was trying to take it off so that the reservoir & filter could be flushed. I gave up as it was getting dark & was not able to remove the hoses from the reservoir. I just managed to replace (1) of the clamps only ( hate factory BMW clamps).

After fixing my vacuum reservoirs, now I have this chirping sound. Monday I called the stealer looking for a DISA valve, thinking that is what it was. The parts man said my car does not have a DISA. My M42 intake does not look like the E30 M42 intake. I thought it had a DISA. Does my car have a dual resonance intake or not?

After flushing my Power steering system, it is leaking…causing a small puddle under the car. I wonder if I cracked the tank or disturbed something (something about leaving sleeping dogs alone). I used Dexron 6 ATF, a synthetic blend. Maybe I should have stuck to straight Dexron 3 ATF. Further investigation needed.

I just ordered a new reservoir & the (2) hoses that attach to the reservoir. One hose goes to the pump & the other goes to the rack.

e30's do not have a DISA
unless someones fitted an m44 intake, but that is very unlikely
