Turbo Race Car Update
« on: February 07, 2012, 12:53:56 PM »
So many of you know that we run a turbo M42 in BMW Club Racing.  We've had a lot of fun, but decided that over the course of this season we're going to take the car in a different direction.

In order to fund this, we're going to be selling some of our M42 specific spare parts.  We have a few heads (at least one of which is fresh from the machine shop and never run), at least 1 block with custom rods, an aluminum fly wheel, intake manifolds, etc.

If there is interest in the 17X9 wheels (4 lug) we may make a set of those available as we move back to a square setup.

Let me know what performance parts you're looking for and look for updates and pics here soon.

Yes, but we had to change suppliers and have been delayed.  More product is on the way and we expect to have plenty of stock within the next week or so.

Are there specific parts you're looking for?

Not really.  I've only had the car since Nov. and it is my daily driver, but curious as to what you might be selling.  I could use some suspension and steering components (tie rods, shocks, bushings, etc).  I will most likely buy your COP kit at some point.  I assume you aren't selling any of your turbo setup are you?

The goal is to put together a list with photos of our engine spares and list the parts with prices that we are willing to sell today.

We might end up selling the race engine and some of the turbo components.  We are in the process of figuring that out.

In the mean time, we have some excellent parts in our spares package that we will put up for sale in the coming days.

I just remembered that we have a complete set of low-comp pistons.  I think we're going to be surprised what we pull out of the trailer.  We always joke that we if we found an E30 shell at the track, we could build a complete car.

Besides, who would want an M47 crank, custom low compression piston, crank scrapper, super tech valve train, 750cc injected, custom plenum, ported head 330RWHP M42 anyway?  Especially if it was just rebuilt with new bearings, guides, and gears!

this is mostly because race cars, as a rule, break only what you didnt bring to the track.   in order to limit this tendency, one must bring everything.
if you do forget something,  your car will somehow know, and you will have to go begging for the part

You've piqued my interest... I've got a turbo M42 that could use the trickle-down of some of your R&D haha. I suppose at this point I'd be curious as to what all you have and what kind of prices you'll be selling parts for as I am on a college-student budget, and I don't think I can quite afford that motor...

I think tops on the list would be an all-aluminum radiator, a nice intake plenum (even if maybe it was a development part, I could do my own R&D and tuning...) and possibly the crank/pistons, but again, this is all very theoretical until I know what kind of money you're looking for. Too bad I just had my head gone through.

What is prompting the new direction with the car?

i don't have a clue, but I'll stand in line for the turbo manifold :)
yeah, yeah... I just bought those N/A cams from you guys, but I had to leave my build before I could swap it in. I know once I get the ITBs in and get comfortable tuning it I'll want to up the power. Disco potato style most likely ;) garret just released an updated version, GTX28R. I was impressed with the flow maps.

I'll take that valve-cover too if you're willing to part with it.
