The tach would have been one of the wires connected to your factory ecu. Find the wire (white/blk stripe from memory???) <
Your standalone should have a configurable tach output. Connect and set to tacho. I did the same on my ecu and it works perfectly.
The signal should be a 12v pulse.
What ECU are you using out of interest?

To bosco and MLM, What standalone engine management have you installed? Also wondering if you had it installed at a shop or not? Price Point? I've been looking into this as I part together a Turbo M42 Build.
