Sold my red 1990 BMW 318i coupe

Bummer...After 220,000 km and $32,000 cost and some $12,000 in maintenance and repairs, I sold the bimmer for $3000 to a young fellow.
Car looked good, new interior and brillaint red after a good treatment of Finish.
However, it did not want to go - I think it was the Vision alarm system playing up.
But no further question from me - tks dave...

But I could not drive 2 cars at once and did not like leaving it parked on the road in the hot aussie sun, unused. Hopefully, someone else can enjoy it.
A class is not the same as a bimmer, tho' but one gets to that stage in life where....

It's best that these cars don't sit...it's a tough choice (but a practical one) if you're not willing to store the car along with all the trouble that entails.

Hopefully your young buyer will introduce himself.  He'll have some questions, no doubt.

I feel your sadness, my m42 has been dormant for a year and a half now. Hit a deer in it, parked it, have been slowly putting it back together, the body work is done, passed inspection.

Though after mistaking top dead center on cylinder 1 for tdc on cylinder 4 I ended up learning the hard way how to bend valves.

It Has sat through another winter waiting on a rebuilt head, that unfortunately I cant afford. Im just starting Post Secondary as a Geomatic Engineer and am paying tuition out of pocket. So the poor thing will likely sit for another 3 years and to be honest I'm on the fence about selling it to someone who has time and money for the rebuild.

Sure I have my trusty M20 E34 to substitute for my sadness, but e34 m20 just doesn't give me the same enjoyment of the e30 m42. Its a sad day anyone hangs up their m42 keys.

I sold my M20 E34 just to get the 318i...it's a significant difference, that's for sure.  I still miss that e34 sometimes...it was superbly reliable.

i miss my 91 318is every day but i picked up a jetta vr6 to ease my pain...........not quite the same pizzaz but it will do. once you get e30 in your blood you cant get it out .

I'm in this boat.
I still have my '91 is, but I have an '04 325xi for daily duty now. I'd keep the e30 as a summer car, but I have 2 wheels for that. Track car? Perhaps. There is occasional AutoX about 2 hours from me. Rationally, I should sell her, but I know if I drive it at all, or get the wrenches out and tweak ANYTHING, I'll fall in love all over again. The e46 is a beautiful, quiet, smooth, surprisingly economical car that I simply cannot fall in love with on the same level. No joke, I shed a big ol' weepy man-tear the last day I drove my e30 home from work.
It's been an incredibly journey together, and it's so hard to part.

Did you buy the car new in '90? That would be so tough to let go! My dad has had an e30 since new and I don't think he will ever part with it.
