Bosch EV6 injectors: washer or not?
« on: December 14, 2011, 11:11:19 AM »
The mustang injector thread has half a dozen people saying you need washers and another half dozen saying you don't. Can I get a definite yes or no as to whether you need washers with the EV6 fuel injectors? Please only respond if you have done this swap, not if you just read about it.

Bosch EV6 injectors: washer or not?

It depends on the part number.  Bosch made these injectors in two models...the 150 short model and the 155 long model if I'm understanding it correctly.  The 155 series is what we need, but you can use the shorter ones with a washer to keep them from dropping off the fuel rail...I'm pretty sure the 280 155 700 injectors are what I installed.

The injectors also come with both slotted and smooth bodies.  We need the slotted ones for the OEM retaining clips to fit.

Here's the post with the short & long injector size comparison.

the 150 is the old style that came on our cars originally, 155 are the newer, thinner ones. the 700s (in the picture above) are what i have but they don't have the slots for the clips. however there are at least 2 people in the 'mustang injectors' thread that said they used the 700s. the 700s come stock on almost every ford 4.6L from mid-90s on. it seems this forum has a lot of conflicting information, kind of annoying when you're trying to collect parts for a full engine rebuild. :(

that's great to hear because the 700s are basically the same injector, at least they look identical. yours also don't have the slots for the OEM clips, some people have said not using the clips will cause fuel leaks. you haven't had any issues with leaks?
