Seat Repair Advice Needed!

Alrighty, the black pleather seats are more or less immaculate, but the black vinyl covering on the hard backing is starting to bubble off on the passenger seat.  Does anyone have any clever ideas to fix this?  I am not opposed to taking the seat apart, although I am not sure how to get the backing off.

The other issue is the part of the hard backing that wraps up around the sides.  The vinyl ripped right around the part of the contour that follows the side-bolster.  Can that be sewn without tearing it?  I am not even sure it if can be stretched that far!

The last one is the simplest bit.  There is a small cut/tear in the left thigh bolster on the driver's seat.  It is right where the knife I wear on my belt rubs the bolster.  Can I just sew this up, or does the pleather not respond well to that?  With the canvas underneath the vinyl, I would think it should be sewable.  Has anyone managed to sew some sort of "wear patch" onto the vinyl that looks more or less OEM?  I am not a fan of seat covers...not one bit!!!

I will be working on my seats very soon.  When the temp drops below 50 we stay inside because of the freezing cold. LOL.  I might have some pieces and parts for seats.  Let me know.

I just found out my neighbor has a sewing machine. Upon looking at various fabrics at Wally World, I might do some bling bling Burberry "style" setup. Of course then I would have to complete the bling by polishing my rims and dropping it another 1/2" or so...

As for the vinyl on the hard backing, why not just strip the rest of it off and do a cf overlay. :cool:

Lol, FL is one of the few places that I envy the weather of...well minus those big windy hurricane thingies.

LOL, CF overlay...I DO have a few yards of CF cloth with an attractive weave, 1/2 gal of marine epoxy and vacuum bagging equipment.  If I could find a way to support the backing I would consider it...that is a LOT of plaster though!

How are the backing bits attached?  Pop-fasteners like the door panels?

I'll never forget the time when we drove down to Key West and were passing through Georgia. It looked like a ghost town or something since no one was on the roads due to a "dusting" of snow. They had all the businesses shut down. We couldn't really speed due to the abundance of photo radar they had in place.

Hard backing - 2 screws at rhe bottom and it comes off. Vinyl is glued to it. Get thin 4-way stretch vinyl.
You can take the bolster off and have it sewn at a trim shop. I got mine done for $25 while I was swapping out frames due to big fat ass syndrome. You  might need hog rings and the special pliers. I have a set with a baggy of hog rings. I paid $30 - will send them for $10. Just pass them on when done.
