Throttle Cable Piece
« on: December 04, 2011, 10:24:22 AM »
Searched the forums and then google image to try and see what a normal M42 throttle cable and related areas should look like and it confirms my belief that mine is missing something. Right where the cable surround stops at the gate on the throttle body there is supposed to be a rubber holder of some kind, mine sits loose in there.

I got a picture as well, what exactly am I missing and anyone know the part number?

I was thinking I'll just get a new throttle cable, but will that have the little parts I don't have or will I need to get that as well?

Thanks!

Ok well looking on bmwfans I found that grommet is part # 35 41 1 152 744

So that is one thing figured out, anything else that I'm missing though?

You're looking for "grommet", PN 35 411 152 744 along with the 685mm "accel bowden cable" PN 35 411 158 724.  Here's the right diagram at RealOEM.

Most BMWs have exact the same part, you can probably get one for free from a local pick-n-pull (though they tend to tear when I pull them out).  Get two just in case...you can use the same grommet for the cruise control setup as well.
