casem - my '91 318is
« on: November 26, 2011, 08:51:14 PM »
For my first post, I'll introduce myself and my car. I'm casey. I've been into european cars since before I could even drive. Mostly, I'm an old school Audi nut but this e30 fell into my possession and now things are changing :D

After owning like 30 cars, this is my first BMW, a 1991 318is. It's diamantschwarz with black interior.

Long story short, senior year of hs, 2007, my friend was in need of a car and we found this 318is on craigslist for like $1200. I assisted with the purchase and was glad to see a friend get into european cars. This car was soooo nice when he bought it. Unfortunately, he found other things more interesting or important than maintaining this car.

Fast forward roughly 4 years and lots of abuse later, he decides he wants to sell it. At this point, I really didn't want it because I knew it was pretty beat. He offered it to me for $500 and I accepted.

When I got it, the paint was shot, the interior was DISGUSTING, the oil pan was cracked and leaking everywhere, and to make it worse, a tree fell on the roof and busted the right rear fixed window and put a nasty crease in the roof.

Slowly but surely though, I've been fixing it back up. Since ~March 2011 I've been using it as a daily driver. I LOVE it. I would own 2 more of these if I could.

Since I bought it, I've replaced the oil pan, tons of gaskets and seals, the busted window, rear wheel bearings, center drive shaft bearing, guibo, power steering delete, and who knows what else.

Now that I have all of it's issues sorted out, I'll be doing the entire suspension. I also need a new lip spoiler for the front, this one is missing of course.

Anyways, TLDR version: I have a 318is and love it. My first and certainly not my last bmw :D

Here's what you clicked for:

The day my friend bought it in 2007

The day I bought it from him in Feb of this year.

Had to take the seats out and vacuum/clean the carpet. Nasty.

Dash is ruined. Shift knob and boot are gone.

Paint was SO BAD but buffed out quite well

Now for more recent photos:

Fitted with the Ronal R8's off one of my Audis. I didn't like it.

You can fit a 55gal drum in the back seat of one of these.
