D'Bilas ITB setup
« on: November 01, 2006, 02:37:49 PM »
Anyone in the US would be interested in these? I am thinking about importing one or two... I know there is not a lot of information about these in the states.... and it would be pointless on a stock M42 motor but for someone looking for ITBs, it may be a way to go?

Cheers,

Installing the ITB's won't be the biggest problem you have, it's managing/metering the airflow and fuel management. Not worth it when you can find motorcycle ITB's and get an adapter plate custom made.

motorbike TBs are a load of work to fit, not jsut fitting a sandwich plate, and are also smaller than the dbilas TBs and the dbilas setup is tried and tested in terms of port tuning etc.
Thus generally speaking the dbilas kit will look better and give better performance than motorbike bodies..
The Dbilas setup can also run off the AFM and use the standard TPS/fuel system, although obviously this will not give optimum power output. Sorting something like MS wouldn't be the end of the world.

you get what you pay for. The dbilas kit is expensive, yes, but also probably fairly priced on balance.
I think my ITBs are probably less compromised than the dbilas setup, but i never set out to build a kit that could work with the factory AFM and airbox.

I played with the idea of slide throttles for a long time.  Tough to make reliable ones that don't stick.

I would kill for a set of dBilas ITB's though...anyone have someone they don't like?  lol

what about the "pulse-intake" intake manifold that the metric mechanic sells? they look easy to build and they claim that it adds 15% more torque throughout the rpm range. im thinking of building one.

Hmm, yeah that sounds good, I'm a torque junkie myself :D

What concerns me is the getting the right lenght for those "pulse chambers" and finding a welder I can trust.

Then again it seems it's a e30 only mod, does anyone know about the e36 manifold? Isn't it already a "pulse-intake"?
