silicone intake bellow
« on: September 26, 2011, 07:00:10 PM »
i was on samco sports website looking for hoses for my bike and i went to their cars department and they have what appears to be an intake bellow for the E46 M3 that looks like ours from the throttle body to the AFM.. my question is will it fit our throttle body... im kind of interested in trying this to get rid of that rubber one and also the e36 318is model seems like it will more likely fit since it has that extra hole for our icv valve as well but its says coolant as well

Why not try the e36 M42 kit?  I'll bet the first part # is for the pair of main coolant hoses, the second one should be the intake elbow.  I'd call to be sure the diameter is the same as the stock AFM outlet, but it sure looks close.  The e46 M3 bit looks similar but angled the wrong way.

There's a better picture over at BavAuto...I googled "samco TB464" and it got me to BavAuto...$121.95

Nevermind, site's being goofy about images again...check this ebay link out for a decent pic:

Get smoother air flow! This Samco silicone intake elbow allows smoother  air flow than the stock intake bellows. The accordion design of the  stock bellows creates turbulence as the air rushes through on its way to  the engine. The smooth interior of the Samco elbow eliminates that  turbulence, feeding oxygen to your engine with a stronger, more  consistent flow.    Please note: not for vehicles with traction control

the 1992 318i samco intake bellow will fit our M42 engines... ive order it this past week and installed it and fits perfectly on the throttle body only downside or maybe a downside is that you have to get a intake pipe in between the afm and the round side of the bellow to maintain proper length which to me is no biggie here is the link.. i also orders their samco radiator kit to see if it will fit to bad they only off the top 2 i will post to see if they work later on here is the link to bavauto... for $121 its not bad and no tax i ordered mine in red since ill be doin a red and black theme in the future
