I searched but didn't find anything here regarding wrapping the headers. Other than reduced engine bay temps and supposedly better flow from the heat extraction, I couldn't find any up or down sides. Any input?

most complaints i've heard is regarding rust. why don't you ceramic coat it instead?

+1...the wrap can trap water, and condensation.

Ceramic coating is a better idea.

Are you only looking for lower underhood temps?? I don't think the higher flow will be noticeable.

I was throwing around the idea of an aluminum heat-shield after I saw how hot the tubes got after only a few minutes of idling.

Because header wrap is easy and cheap while the motor is out. I would love to put ceramic coat in the budget, but there are other priorities.

ive had my headers wrapped when my motor was out and no troubles at all and its been almost 2 yrs ago and i live in northern cali so we get a good amount of rain... depends which ones u use and how tight you have them... i have DEI new titanium lava rock one and steel ties and they do the job my engine bay is cooler and give my headers a nice ti carbon fiber look to it when its in the light. kinda thinking of dong it to my bike as well

Any idea of how much you used? Will a 50' roll be enough for the M42?

i used a 50' by 2" roll and 8 4" steel ties and i think 4 8" steel ties
... the shop that wrapped my headers said it was more than enough as i only did it to the collector... like for mentioned earlier in order for it to collect water you must not have done it right or not tight enough because mines are still tight and are installed properly and the material that dei uses has chemicals to repel water because i seen it bead up and flow away.and also in order for it to collect water you must not drive it every day because doesnt the heat from the exhaust make the water evaporate
