318is from Houston!
« on: May 29, 2011, 07:11:29 PM »
Whats up guys, names Gary from Houston, TX. Ill try and make it short, I bought my 94 318is for $2k bone stock with a minor slipping clutch, a bit of minor front end damage(Bumper, grill,fogs,).. 5speed with 122kmiles(Currently 126k). Encountered later on that it was leaking coolant(Minor leak). Replaced the entire cooling system myself, only to have the same issue. Found out it was the infamous profile gasket issue.. Anyways I replaced the whole front end, with an M3 front, New kidney grills,  grill support, and restored the yellow hazed headlights. I changed out the clutch(New OEM), and car ran great. I bought new suspension and got Raceland coilovers(yes Raceland) because I didnt want to spend more on coilovers, when the car cost 2k. DDMtuning fogs, and tails, as well as 2500k bulbs.. I recently purchased some 16x7 et11 BBS RA's in Gold w/polished lip... Anyways, here is a pic of how it looks. :) His name is ETHER.

Well, recently I ran over something which cracked my oil pan...:( Car lost oil pressure and car shut off. I attempted to turn it on ONE time(Prolly shouldn't have done it), but it didn't do anything.. I temporarily JB Welded the crack, added 5quarts of 20W50, oil filter, and tried to crank it up.. Car wont come on. I'm thinking the block got really hot, possibly spun rod bearing, warped head? I don't know but I have this video. Can someone tell me what that sound is? Should I go ahead and sell the car OR swap it with maybe a 5.0? lol. I love my 318 and don't know what to do. Suggestions would be appreciated. CLICK THE VIDEO! http://tinypic.com/r/2gvm23s/7

Thread approved!  Welcome to the 'club.

Used M42s aren't that expensive.  When you say it didn't do anything, do you mean it'd spin but no start?  Sounds like it's turning over.

I'd start with the basic stuff - pull plugs to be sure you have spark, maybe see if the pump is working, that sort of stuff.
