Prosport Gauges?
« on: May 01, 2011, 01:04:21 AM »
i was trying to look for instructions on installing a fuel pressure gauge on here but i guess i don't have search skills.
i'm trying to get a gauge so i can monitor the fuel pressure. lol
i keep getting this warm start issue and when it happens.. the engine just get's flooded. so i need to find out my fuel pressure at certain points.
i was thinking of getting autometer before.. but after seeing that prosport offers cheap oem color matching (electrical?) gauges.. i was wondering if anybody had any experience with it in their e30. i've only seen a review with it in an RX7.

Use an electric sender gauge, never bring fuel into the dash.. :)

You get what you pay for with gauges...

i guess i'll just go ghetto. since i don't have spare funds for an electrical one.
i'll probably just get those mechanical ones and route it infront of the windshield with the hood popped up and run around the block and measure stuff like that. lol

I have one permanently mounted under the hood. Just a tee fitting and a cheap gauge from Summit Racing.

this may seem like a pretty naive question.. but how do you use it when its there?
checking fuel pressure at idle?

Pretty much, or on a dyno. The original intent was to swap it out with a sender later, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. No real place to put the gauge inside without hacking the dash and I haven't had a real need for it yet. I put it in because I was having a bleed-down issue, but I got that resolved and just left it.

ahh i see. well.. it was actually my mechanic's idea for me to get a fuel pressure gauge with a sender so i could measure fuel pressure while running. because i got a warm start issue where the engine gets flooded.  i don't really know what a bleed-down issue is either.

i have prosport gauges and they closely match i like them i have 3 right now oil temp, water temp/ and a digital A/F with Volt and been working great till the A/F went bad but it was the oldest and i did kinda dropped it lightly but will opt for the wide band in the future
