Dave according to the CL ad ... the windshield has a lot of "crakes". That ad makes me suspect something seriously afoot with that vehicle.

I don't know 'bout that. If he hit a turkey I'm sure his windshield would look quite the mess. We have a lot 'round here, gorgeous birds. Large too...ten pounds or so, I'd figure. They tend towards flying in straight lines - not terribly maneuverable nor graceful while in flight.

IMHO Franklin was right...they should have been our national symbol...

I actually bought a spare set of weaves off of him. (Seller) I got to see the car in the process, and there is a lot of work to be done on it, both inside and outside. Way over my head to even consider. To Dave, +1 on Franklin's vote. His other quote, Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy sort of reinforces that ascetics did not mean much to the man...if he had been drinking a lot of beer...

I might have to see if he'd take a trade. Though I'm not sure I'd like the coupe over the sedan. Post some details...especially...how much rust are we talking about there?

It was a while ago that I saw Mitchell's car, but from what I can recall the rust was in the usual rear tow hook-rocker panel areas. The car needed body work, dents were a-plenty and the paint was thin in a few places. The front valence was not straight either. The interior was filthy and full of parts...this could have changed since I saw it, as Mitchell did say he was going to restore it as a project...

Yeah, I noted the rear panel rust. He's stripped it for paint. Were the seats OK? Or is this just a tired, expensive project car?

I walked away from one of those once. I'm still not sure I did the right thing. It was missing the entire interior, engine apart, cyl head in the trunk, significant rust, that sort of thing. The price was right though.

The drivers had some tears. With your parts inventory and mechanical aptitude, I would think you could fix it up. I have no idea about maintenance history or drive train condition, as I did not drive it. I would say it depends how nice you want to make it and how much time you want to spend. It could be made a reliable daily probably easy, but it would take a lot to make it a show-worthy machine

Body from 20 feet away in the pics looks a mess, and for sure the underside is a disaster given the condition of the topside. Lord knows what the mechanicals are like, given how the body looks. I can't imagine whoever owned it before the present owner was keeping up on maintenance. Sad really, because it certainly was a sharp little car way back when.
