my ac does not work, would anybody know if you can run aux fan to help cool things off even though the ac is not working?

Probably depends on why it isn't working. If I remember correctly the aux fan comes on when the A/C switch is in. It wouldn't matter if the A/C was actually doing anything as long as that circuit was intact.

If you are overheating, it more than likely isn't due to not having the aux fan on. I have not fans and don't have a problem outside of sitting in traffic and 100 degree weather.

+1 the aux fan should turn on if you press the A/C switch even if the system has little or no refrigerant. The compressor clutch won't engage, but the fan should run. Double check it...on low it's hard to hear over the motor.

Also, the aux fan should turn on automatically, regardless of A/C settings. Check the little fan stat switch screwed into the radiator. It will turn the aux fan on low or high depending on coolant temperature. If it isn't, check the relays, fan resistor and fan itself.

could be a problem with a/c pressure switch on the reciever/drier, this also plays a role in condenser fan operation.

I have my electric fan plugged into aux fan, I removed the aux fan so I could power it. It turns on without the ac on and even during this crazy heat, my temp never past the 3/4 mark.

even in crazy heat, if your temp is getting to the 3/4, then something is wrong. Shouldnt pass more than a little past of 1/2.

I have the lower temp sensor in the radiator. when its really hot, it sits between 1/2 and 3/4 mark.... i think everythings working fine.

105-113 degree vegas heat, no A/C my car never got 1/8" above the halfway mark, and thats with no fan shroud on my radiator, sitting in absolutely stopped traffic, maybe 3/16" above halfway mark
