It's not easy, as the studs on the upper bearing aren't that long. I'd get a cheap HF spring compressor and look for someone replacing their stock springs. Avoid six-cyl, they'd make it worse.
A buddy of mine and I just split a parts car with the same purple springs. Worse in our case...it's an M20 super eta...the heavier engine with those short springs put the oil pan about four inches off the ground. No way I'd drive that thing myself, it's a miracle the engine lasted long enough to have a head gasket leak.
