Many thanks to the 'dude' listed above. While the info I got from him didn't give me the spec I was looking for it did show me how the trans is put together and that 4th gear is the one you're going to hear the most from if the IP shaft bearing takes a poo. What do you know... 4th gear is by far the loudest and the only one that makes noise when turning the trans by hand.

If I take it apart I'm doing the 2nd and 3rd gear synchros while I'm in there. Synchros are $75 each and the input shaft bearing is $100. It almost certainly needs the needle bearing at the bottom of the shaft... another $11. There's at least another $40 is misc seals that one would be stupid not to replace while you're in there.
So I'd be at least $301 into the trans if I don't find any other issues while I'm in there. Add into it that this will be my first trip into the Getrag 240 so I'm not overly enthusiastic about dumping money into it.
I found a 131K mile trans a local wreckers for $275. Sound good?
