« on: December 31, 2010, 02:14:39 PM »
Hi guys, im new to this forum, hope you can help. I am going to tackle the breather pipe mess under my intake next week and thought whilst i am doing it i will upgrade my injectors.
Ive read quite a few different threads on here any othe sites but cant seem to find which injectors from the uk will fit. I know about the mustang ones but i dont think i will be able to get my hands on any over here.
Hope you can help, Cheers

Unfortunately you'll have to confirm flow from part numbers.   I'm not an expert on this, but from what I've gathered the type you're looking for is high impedance (15 ohms or so) 4-hole "type III disk" injectors.  There are also two lengths...the 155 series is too short, the 150's are the right length.  The PN's you'll want are 0 280 150 XXX.  I found mine off a Ford V8, of course.   I'll bet they will run just fine if/when I install them.:)

They're plastic bodied and much thinner than the original BMW ones.  Double-check that they have a standard connector, some don't.  All Bosch injectors will likely have the OEM part number on one side and the Bosch number that you need on the other side.

I've heard a few mid-90s SAAB/Volvo/Opel turbo four bangers will likely be in the desirable 19-ish pound range.  Avoid the more powerful cars like Mitsu & Subie turbos...you'll have some 30-ish pounders there, far too much flow.

Anytime.  Post what you find.

I did dig this up...it's a lot of data:
http://users.erols.com/srweiss/tableifc.htm
This too:
http://www.witchhunter.com/injectordata1.php4

I'd just pull out the relevant part numbers, print it out & take it to the junk yard.

You read over the Mustang injector thread, right?  Seems like the specs on that page say the new 4-hole injectors actually flow about the same, but with far better atomization.

If you're really desperate for Mustang injectors I can send four over to you.  I was going to send them out for overhaul before I installed them, but I can run over to the yard and grab some more in the spring.  There are a lot of Ford modular V8's in the yards now.  I can verify part numbers, but they're definitely very yellow.

Or see if this guy will send these to the UK, they're the same ones I have:

They're only $10 with six days left...

Cheers DESKTOPDAVE, those links are really helpful. Im going to print the list of the injectors from the 1st link and take it to the scrap yard with me. That way i can pull some injectors out and check the part numbers and see if they will work.

Ive noticed from looking through the list that the Audi 1.8 turbo uses the same 210cc injector as the mustang. The only difference is the feed. The feed on a M42 Injector is called EV1, the Mustang one is TOP and the Audi one is EV6. Im unsure as to what this means yet but im going to have a read up and see what this means.

Carlos318is, i will let you know as soon as i have found some that work mate.

You'll want the EV1 injectors unless you grab the EV6 harness.  The wiring plugs are apparently different.  I'm confused about this too...I thought EV1 was the 4-hole disk-style "design III" injectors that we want.  I'll post anything I find.

My results...
From what I found, the EV1 and EV6 cases are physically different.  The EV6 seems to have a different plug, with a catch on the side instead of the back like the EV1 does.  The confusion seems to stem from the plastic thin injectors versus the fat metal cases.  I suspect that's what everyone is confused with.  What I was referring to is the "Design I" single-hole injector vs. the "Design III" 4-hole disk-style injector.  Some bikes have even more holes, BTW.  I've heard of 12-hole showerheads in Hondas...eight injectors and four throttle bodies for their inline-4 CBR motor...yum...

Futhermore, they are all top-feed.  The only side feed injectors I recall were phased out in the 80s.  IMHO avoid anything before 1990 as impedance/injector dimensions/spray patterns were all over the map, literally.
