Problem that I fear cannot be fixed...
« on: December 12, 2010, 09:10:37 PM »
I took my door off today to get at some rust that was building in the hinge. The lower hinge was seized so i got the torch out and gave a heat up and it came out quite nicely. Only problem is that in the hinge theres a sleeve made out of some fiber stuff that came out with the hinge. The rust had messed it up bad. Is there any way i can get a replacement sleeve and install it into the hinge because other wise my door will be totally messed. Unfortunately this sleeve came out of the side of the hinge thats welded to the car so...i cant just junkyard another hinge part.

Help?

There is a repair kit out there, just the sleeve, pin & bolt.  I lost my link, might have been ECS selling it?  I'll find it & post it.  The BMW dealer might have a kit too, they weren't expensive IIRC.  Maybe $20?

Found it...parts look-up works but navigating via model is difficult.
