What are your winter e30 projects?
« on: December 04, 2010, 09:28:04 PM »
Well here in Nebraska it gets quite cold and snowy in the winter, so my e30 is tucked in nicely in my heated garage until spring time.  Im not really sure what all Im going to do it yet. So far I have the lower oil pan off, and all the seats and carpet out.  I need to get the upper pan off and weld it up, its cracked pretty good.  I put a brand new lower pan on and put a hole in it after less then 300 miles :( so, that pan will have to be welded as well.  Would like to do a couple small things like put on a new throttle cable, I really want to lower it more as well.

As for the interior, mine is trashed. The seats are all sorts of messed up mechanically, like they lean to one side and wont slide, stuff like that, but the vinyl is damn near perfect on the passenger seat, and its online came a part on the seam a few inches on the drivers, so I think Im just going to try and fix them and put them back in.  Carpet is ruined for sure, so now that its out Im going to powerwash it and dye/paint it black.  Ill thoroughly clean all the plastics while theyre out, and Im going to redo the headliner (in suede snow leopard lol).  All that will leave is the dash, Id love to find a replacement and swap that in, and I think it would all be pretty nice.

Got all winter, so Ill prolly just keep tinkering with it, see where it gets me.

Anyone else got some big plans for your e30 over the winter?

Nothing that ambitious for me.  Just topping off the oil & avoiding the worst of the road salt.

I have to get my m42 back together... its just sitting in my garage in pieces waiting to get put back together. I also bought a bunch of new stuff for the suspension but the engines priority right now. I just need to find a way to freakin motivate my lazy self.
