Door Locks
« on: November 24, 2010, 10:24:04 AM »
A previous owner of my car relocated the door lock mechanism. The electrical switch thingy that moves up and down when you lock and unlock the door with that stick. Vague, i know but i cant think of a better way of explaining it.

The previous owner had a custom alarm system put in and well... they spliced into a lot of stuff and cut alot of stuff and some of my lights dont work and...and ..and.

Anyways there are two wires that run out of the bottom of that switch and i was wondering if any of you guys know what they do. Hopefully someones been in there. Thanks

That's a lot of work - you'd have to take a long look at the wiring diagrams to determine what goes where.  The microswitch wires on the door locks should go to a central locking module in the driver's kick panel under the speaker.  Some cars also had a convenience module with a second switch in each lock.  Provided a lighting delay, etc.

I see...didnt know what that was. Thought it was a speaker thing actually. Speakers and locking are in the same rat nest or wires. The relay in the central locking module was disconnected and the wires running off the mircoswitch were just lose and went nowhere. Ill see if things have been changed on that module.

Thanks Dave
