relay for blower

does the blower motor wiring go through one of the relays? Ive read somewhere in a search that the blower motor, power mirrors and rear defrost go through the same relay?

ETM says that it does.  K7 (unloader relay) sends power through Fuse 20 (30A).  That sends full power to the blower switch which selects the right resistor circuit, finally powering the blower motor.

Fuse 20 also helps with the aux fan (in front of the radiator), but that gets power from many other sources as well (fuses 3, 18 & 19).

Fuse 8 & 23 supply the power.  8 runs the defogger directly through the switch & 23 runs the light bulb off the headlight power so that it lights & dims properly.  Mine's burned out too......all those bulbs are a PITA.

ETM doesn't mention a relay, that's a lot of current through the switch, eh?

Here's a good link for you...just go here & DL the right one...I grabbed a few since I always seem to have a variety of different e30's in the driveway.   BTW, the '91 318 manual seems to be missing a few pages, so get the '89 as well.  E30's are such simple cars...good thing because they're getting old so lots of strange stuff can go wrong.  If it wasn't for Bavarian build quality I'd be driving Alfas...

I printed a copy out & stuck it in a 3-ring binder.   It's in the trunk for future reference.  Google the e30 ETM or ETK (electrical troubleshooting manual) & get that too.  Sometimes it really helps to have a paper copy on hand, especially for a buddy or even your mechanic.
