Hello fellow enthusiasts,

The time has come to replace my muffler, it currently has a very loud piece of work on it, that needs to go... I hate it, and I am sure everyone in a 2 mile radius does as well, lol. It is my birthday here in a couple of days and am getting treated to a new muffler... Here is my dilemma.

So I want something for under $200, $150 is a good number. It needs to be somewhat quiet at an idle and under normal driving conditions, but when I get on that throttle, I wanna hear it from my exhaust. Throaty is always a plus for me, and preferably 2.25" single/double with tips. Performance is always a good thing with me as well.

Please if you could post some suggestions, I would appreciate it, videos and sound clips are always nice as well. So far I am leaning towards a Magnaflow 14815, but that can change easily.

dynomax turbo muffer. Has a very nice throaty sound to it.

I'm in the same boat, I've seen this muffler mentioned before. At work so I can't watch the vid but i'm probably going the same route.

Do you guys generally just do this as a catback setup? I think my cat may have already been deleted. Anybody got a vid with no/gutted cat? Really don't want to have to screw around with buying a new cat.

There's no reason to get rid of the cat. It doesn't kill that much power, and it actually gets rid of a lot of teh rasp that is inherent in the M42. Not to mention that it makes a huge difference in emissions. Universal cats are pretty cheap. I currently have a magnaflow high-flow cat, 20" cherry bomb with all the red burned off, and a magnaflow 11265 muffler, exiting through dual tips. Sounds good and no rasp at all once it warms up. It was on the loud side, though.

fwiw I have only heard one car with a dynomax, but it was raspy as hell.
