Ok, normally my car runs at just about a needle width shy of the halfway point on the gauge.
but.... Lately it has gone WAY above usual operating temp.. like all the way to the mark after halfway...
Do I need to check something out, and/or do i have a problem beggining to surface?
i just wanna know wat u other M42 guys are running temp wise and if its normal to run this hot.

Seems ominous. Mine is usually below the half mark, but I'm running water wetter and about 70/30 distilled water.

I'd test the engine driven fan to see if the clutch is OK, and pull the aux fan switch off the passenger side of the radiator & test that too. Might just be a bad low speed resistor. Search is your friend!

prob a bad connection with the temp sensor lol mine used to go wayyyy up then i'd tap on the instrument cluster and it would go back down LOL

Check your fan clutch, that is normally the first thing to go. Also not sure when you have done it, but a coolant flush every 2 years is ideal. You can get the engine running cooler than that.

Bump from the grave,

It ended up being a bad ground connection on the temp gauge itself, I did up my cluster and tightened the nut behind the gauge and now it is back to normal!

most likely the nut in back of cluster is loose. happen to me.
