6 Button OBC Works, but is not Functional
« on: August 10, 2010, 02:39:40 PM »
Hello -

My OBC has a good display (no bleeding) and all buttons work when you push them, but the default clock display does not keep time. It is only right twice a day if you know what I mean. I can set the time and then it stays there...no movement. The outside temp reading button functions and it will tell me the proper temperature, but that's about it.

I've searched a bit to try and find a similar solution, but with no luck. Anybody have any ideas or similar experiences?

Thanks!

Eric

Sounds like it isn't setting the time, or maybe that a button isn't working right.

I know that sounds idiotic, but it's hard to explain!

Yes, it is like it is stuck in "set" mode and not returning to "time telling" mode.

Is the little dot still blinking?  It should be solid if the clock is properly set.  That is, you have to press 'Hour' again after you key in the correct time.  It'll wait forever unless you to press 'hour' again.  Alternatively, it might be a loose or broken 'hour' button.

That was it! I didn't return it to "active" status. Now that the dot has stopped blinking, it keeps time. I feel ridiculous, but appreciative.

Thanks again,

E.

Also, what's the little blue "eye" just above the orange display - it's molded into the casing. It looks like a reset button or something but does not seem to move in any way.

Thanks

I think the eye is a light sensor - changes the back light brightness to match ambient light.  Bright light, bright display, etc.

Don't worry about feeling dumb.  I did the exact same thing myself...how else could I have known what the trouble was?
