High idle after hard run?

Hey guys this is my first post on this site. i just got myself a 91 318is the other day and i ran into the first problem yesterday after very polite driver ran a red causing me to stop abruptly and rev the the car in neutral all the way to about 6500 rpms. the problem is after this incident the car idles around 2k with no hope of coming back down. ive already cleaned the crap out of the icv which helped for a second then went back to high idle? what do i do? just ordered an o2 sensor will that help?:eek::eek:

Check the throttle linkage on the tb. Mine did this to me a couple of times. Just be sure that the clip is fully seated.

when you say check throttle linkage are you talkin about where the cable rests on the throttle body or the thumb adjusters that are on it? and yes im getting a check engine light!:confused:

Sometimes the little cable rubber part flakes off and jams the cable a little.  Hard to explain, just check the cable.

Could also be that you have a new vac leak.  You didn't happen to note a loss of power low down, did you?

thats odd, i used to beat my m42 off the limiter all the time drifting/donuts/burnouts/hauling ass and it never gave me a hiccup. hmm. maybe a intake hose/vac hose came loose?

some of those vacuum hoses are underneath the throttle body? whats a good a way to check where im getting a leak from? and i did notice loss of power its extremely annoying.

I think i might as well "clean the mess under the intake" while im down there just to cut the amount of possible leaks i could have in the future. im almost positive it is a vacuum leak because little by little this hissing in the engine on the driver side is getting louder and while its making noise my acceleration greatly suffers.:mad:

search for the stomp test procedure to get the CEL code.  its written at a million driffernt places on this site

i tried doing the stomp test but no luck the check engine light does not blink it just stays on. does anyone have a complete list of all the items i would need to do the vacuum lines mod and remove any unnecessary lines?

thanks guys im almost positive its a vacuum leak thats causing this problem. im just gonna pick up a silicone hose kit and just redo all the lines in the engine bay. maybe elimate some lines along the way

I think I'm going to use my car as a guinea pig and see what happens.
The thing is the kits like 95 bucks?! are silicone hoses really that expensive to produce
