fan clutch removal/ water pump removal? please help.
« on: July 07, 2010, 07:53:11 AM »
Im supposed to take the car out to PA today and i pulled out of the drive way and there was a pool of antifreeze. I had previously done a throttle body delete and thought i might be leaking from the end caps. After looking under the hood i noticed the leak was coming from the front of the engine, not where my hose delete caps were. After closer inspection i decided that i wanted to change the thermostat and the gasket along with the water pump. I started pulling everything apart and i now have the belt off  and the thermostat out but i cannot figure out how to get the water pump out. when i spin the fan bolt the whole unit spins. is there an easier way to remove the water pump. i know theres a specific tool but i dont have time to go out and purchase one. I would appreciate any input.

Leave the belt on to help hold the Pully, The fan Clutch Nut is Left Hand Threds use a cressent wrench and wack it with something / Hammer, The water pump has Two threded extraction holes tapped in the housing. Be ''Carefull'' not to cock it, must come out stright cause it will get in a bined spray some kinde of liquid wrench in the gap to loosen any corrosion & O-Ring.  Good Luck!
