1 year and 3 months with my IS coupe
« on: June 28, 2010, 11:18:07 AM »
Hi guys, I used to drive cars like the Alfa 33s, Legacy GT and my dad's C200 W208 and owned my first car, a Hyundai Getz...at that point in my motoring life, i was hooked to the world of BMWs after test driving my buddy's E46 M3 manual...ohhhhh what a beast with soul! As cars are pretty Ex in where i live, I settled with my first Bimmer, a shape i have admired since i was in high-school and when it was in its glorious days in BTCC and WTCC, WooOooo....haha..so i got meself one and thats where the pain and suffering began...Weak chassis points..prone to cracks? I've fixed it. M42's weak timing chain tensioner..prone to failure? I've blown and rebuilt my M42...interior falling apart? I've refurbished the interior....got the original M kit to replace the fiberglass units which came with the car...lots of other shit..anyhow, its been a year back and I haven't regretted the rebuild one bit..It might only be a 4cyl but with a little tuning, 175crank hp, 195nm in a body considered fly weight these days, its a pretty decent car to drive around and have fun with! Its so balanced and perhaps more balanced than the M50s at the front..1 year and counting and its just the beginning of having so much fun with my iS coupe ;)

It's good to hear that.  I hope the Club has been helpful to you.  It is a fun car, isn't it?  I do agree with you about the M3 - great car all the way around.  The M3 just seems a lot bigger than our little E30M42...maybe I'll get one when I retire?
