Vacuum and coolant hoses, and yes, replace cracked and broken hoses. While you're at it check this out.

If you're just trying to get it to fire, electrical or duct tape might help seal up some of the serious leaks for vacuum temporarily. Coolant, not so much.

Isn't that engine pretty under her covers?

What a great link, thank you very much for that.

Trust me, the inside of my intake manifold had 1/4" thick black build up. I used a ton of carb cleaner on it, and fresh hoses seems like an easy enough job.

I also found a link for cleaning my fuel injectors

I'll get all the intake and injectors cleaned by Sunday, hopefully get all new hoses fabricated, I still need to tear it down and remove the head, and check the valves and piston heads, might as well clean it up while I'm at it.

found this quite helpful, it relieved the fears I had about doing this, yet I still need to find a Torx socket and breaker bar, I'll have to borrow these from a friend.

Congratulations on the new purchase! Looks like you are diving right in, which is great.

You will find that the M42 motor is a lot of fun to drive. It's not a big-power motor by any means, but it has a nice powerband (especially if you like revving high) and will get up and go even better with a performance chip.

Sorry that I cannot offer any mechanical advice, as I am fairly new to these cars/motors myself. I wish you luck with getting this car on the road.

As I re-read this thread, I wonder if you checked the resistance of your crank and cam position sensors to make sure they're good?

You mention that you have good spark, so I may be incorrect - however the sensors are easy enough to test.

I've moved apartments, and now I have a Garage

all the utility deposits and various other moving expenses ate my cash, but I'll have extra at the end of the month.

Alright, I'm trying to make a checklist of the things I need for the rebuild, I'm going to buy them all this month, and then complete the build with a friend of mine.

I now have some experienced assistance for the build, but I'm still working on gathering all the supplies

So far I know I need

Tools:
Torque Wrench
Torx Sockets
I have pretty much everything else.

Parts:
Gasket Set
Fuel Injectors (replacing/upgrading to 5.0 mustang injectors)
Plugs/Plug Wires
All the Hoses and clamps required for the Hose Mod
New Coolant
New Oil

Some of the questions I have are:

Should I have the head machined at a local shop?
Who can tell if my valves are bent once I remove the head?

Also I was wondering if there are any other tips before the build?

If you have reputable machine shop near by then have them check out the head.
Pressure test ,they should be able to check the valves for you also.It should be machined flat by them.
They should be able to look at it and give you a quote for what it will need.

Skip buying new coils/wires. Go for the coil-on-plug (COP) mod. Same cost as new wires, better results. Details in the electrical forum, I think.
