6.4HP gain, now head swap???
« on: May 21, 2010, 09:45:38 PM »
Hi all,

I sort of inhereted a nice little 318 from my brother who's in the navy.  I do a lot of work on my E46 and though I prep the little 318 up a bit.  I got the Signature Motoring performance intake which added 6.4HP/3.9 ft/lb on the dyno.  Not bad considering it as a percentage.  The induction sound was so cool I've been tearing around the hills of Malibu here and now I've got a coolant leak from the headgasket.  It appears only extenernal, no trace in the oil.  Car has 162,000 on it and I'd like to keep it a while.  I'm sure a lot is worn in the head.  Anyone dealt with a good source for rebuilt heads aside from Bav Engine Exchange that is a bit pricey/bad rap for customer service?  Thanks all!

Is it on the driver's side of the engine or passenger side? If its on the passenger side, it could be one of the many small hose below the intake manifold.

Check out VAC Motorsport for rebuilt heads as well.
